“ | It's been a year since the octopi of the Curry Aquarium vanished without a trace. With the newly opened World of Kelp to take its place, the faculty hopes to make up enough money to get new specimens. | ” |

The Octopi Exhibit was a former attraction at the Aquatic Fun Center. Once intended to showcase the intelligence and versatility of octopuses, the exhibit was shut down under suspicious circumstances. Its space was later rebranded as the World of Kelp, though several remnants of the original octopus-focused design remain scattered throughout.
Unfortunately, the exhibit is never seen in its original form, as it was decommissioned before the events of the game.
Closure[]
As revealed in The Timely Times, the exhibit was abruptly closed after a bizarre incident where every octopus disappeared from the facility. In-game notes from 1970 also reference “theft of cephalopod species”, vandalism, and a series of managerial mishaps around the same time. There are strong suggestions that the octopuses escaped — or were released.
Marine biologists in the level Silent but Dadly mention the event, with one scientist insisting the tank had been locked, while another speculates that someone deliberately let the animals out.
Legacy[]
While the Octopi Exhibit no longer exists, its legacy lingers in suspicion, fear, and fragmented clues scattered throughout the aquarium. It is heavily implied — though never confirmed — that Octodad himself may have possibly been the cause of the incident.
Although the space was converted into the World of Kelp, keen-eyed players can spot remnants of the Octopi Exhibit:
- Octopus Playground: One section of the World of Kelp contains climbing bars, ropes, and tubes clearly designed for highly mobile animals. While passed off as a kid-friendly play area, its structure resembles an octopus.
These details hint that the transformation from octopus-themed to kelp-themed was more cosmetic than structural — and may have been rushed following the incident.
