The World of Kelp is a colourful, interactive exhibit in the Aquatic Fun Center. It’s designed as a fun, educational space for kids to learn about kelp forests, ocean currents, and photosynthesis through games and hands-on activities.
The exhibit celebrates the vibrant and essential ecosystem of kelp forests, presenting it in a way that appeals to children and families. It's bright, noisy, and packed with oversized displays and kid-friendly science facts. The World of Kelp is one of the most playful and chaotic exhibits in the aquarium.
Interestingly, it’s located where the Octopi Exhibit used to be, prior to the mysterious octopus disappearance incident mentioned in the Aquarium Notes and The Timely Times.
Notable Features[]
- Kelp Grow Station – A spore-launching game that demonstrates kelp reproduction
- The Kelp Slide – A massive twisty slide that Tommy challenges Octodad to race down
- Sun Wheel – Players spin a globe to align the sun’s rays with ocean currents
- The Pulley Tower – A teamwork puzzle requiring Octodad and Tommy to collect all the kelp balls
- Kelp Facts Signs – Scattered throughout the exhibit, these offer surprisingly detailed marine biology trivia
- Octopus Playground – A remnant of the previous exhibit.
Trivia[]
- Tommy calls the exhibit “lame” at first but quickly gets excited about all the interactive elements.
- The World of Kelp soundtrack is upbeat and quirky, matching Tommy’s energetic attitude.
- The exhibit used to house the Octopi Exhibit, which was removed after an alleged escape.
- If Octodad lingers too long, Tommy will impatiently yell things like “Hurry up, Dad!” or “You’re too slow!”
- Despite being a kelp-themed room, there are very few actual fish in the exhibit — likely a cheeky nod to budget cuts or the aquarium’s chaotic management history.
